Enugu Youths Rally Behind Gov. Peter Mbah, President Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

Hundreds of youths from across Enugu State on Wednesday converged for the Enugu State Youth Summit to express support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring their intention to back both leaders for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The summit, which attracted political leaders, government officials, youth groups and stakeholders from across the state, focused on youth development, leadership, governance and political participation.

In his welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development and Grassroots Mobilisation, Hon. Peter Chime, described the gathering as a demonstration of the confidence reposed in Governor Mbah’s administration by young people in the state.

He thanked the participants for their turnout and reaffirmed what he described as the collective resolve of the youths to support Governor Mbah and President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Representing Governor Mbah at the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Lloyd Ekweremadu Jr., commended the youths for their commitment to the development of Enugu State and their continued support for the present administration.

Ekweremadu highlighted the state’s investments in youth empowerment, technology and sports, noting that the administration had created opportunities for young people through appointments into government and various public agencies.

He also attributed the recent achievements of Enugu Rangers and the state’s performances in volleyball, basketball, handball and other sporting competitions to the government’s sustained investment in sports development.

The commissioner urged eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process during the 2027 elections.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, praised the youths for what he described as their resilience and support for the state government.

He encouraged young people to prioritize personal development, acquire relevant skills and surround themselves with mentors who would positively shape their future.

According to Onyia, leadership is defined by performance, consistency, discipline and a willingness to learn, urging the youths to remain focused on building themselves for future leadership responsibilities.

He further advised them to seek mentorship and remain grateful to those who contribute to their personal and professional growth, stressing that while they should remain young in age, they should strive to be mature in wisdom.

Other speakers at the summit included the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye; Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government and Deputy Chairman of ALGON in Enugu State, Hon. Ugochukwu Ferdinand; and the APC Deputy National Youth Leader, Hon. Samaludin Kabir.

During the event, Kabir presented an award to Governor Mbah in recognition of what he described as the governor’s contributions to governance and development in Enugu State.

Among other dignitaries present were the Liaison Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Hon. Edeani M. Edeani; Managing Director of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Hon. Monday Diamond; the Enugu State APC Youth Leader, Hon. Basil Ojengwa; as well as several commissioners, senior special assistants, local government and ward youth leaders.

The summit was convened by Hon. Peter “Cash” Chime, while Melone Stanley reported for the organizing team.
