Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has appointed former Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information, Mr Chris Mbah, as the new Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission.

Chris Mbah, who previously served as Commissioner II in the commission, formally assumed office after receiving the handover documents from his predecessor.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the new chairman expressed appreciation to Governor Peter Mbah for the confidence reposed in him, saying he was committed to justifying the appointment.
He also praised Odo for his service to the commission, acknowledging his contributions and dedication during his tenure.
Mbah, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, said his immediate focus would be on strengthening the commission and advancing reforms that would make the state’s civil service more efficient, responsive and technology-driven.
According to him, the commission must embrace innovation and digital transformation to meet the demands of modern governance and improve service delivery across the state.
He pledged to build a civil service system that reflects Governor Mbah’s “Tomorrow Is Here” vision, with greater emphasis on technology, professionalism, productivity and efficient administration.
The appointment is coming at a time when the Enugu State Government is intensifying efforts to reposition the public service and drive its broader reform agenda.
With his experience within the civil service and previous service in the commission, expectations are high that the new chairman will bring his administrative experience to bear in steering the affairs of the commission.
