Women from the five Local Government Areas of Enugu West Senatorial District have expressed support for Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, calling for the continuation of its development programmes across the state.

First Lady, Enugu State
The women made their position known at the Enugu West Senatorial Women’s Solidarity Rally held at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters.
The event brought together women leaders, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, government officials, the five council chairmen and other community leaders from across the senatorial district.
The wives of the five Local Government Area chairmen also used the occasion to host the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, who attended as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Mbah commended the people of Enugu West for their unity and participation in the development of the state.
She described the senatorial district as a region with a significant history and strong tradition of leadership, enterprise and community service.
Mrs. Mbah said the administration had focused on areas including infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment and other programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
She maintained that while progress had been recorded, more work remained to be done and urged residents to support efforts to sustain ongoing projects and reforms.
According to her, continuity in governance would allow existing programmes to be consolidated, ongoing projects to be completed and new development initiatives to be introduced.
She cited improved road networks, stronger healthcare delivery, quality education, economic opportunities for young people and support for businesses as areas requiring sustained attention.
Mrs. Mbah Urges Voter Participation
The Governor’s wife also urged residents of Enugu West to participate actively in the electoral process ahead of the next election.
She called on women, youths, traditional rulers, community leaders, artisans, traders and other residents to exercise their civic responsibilities, vote according to their convictions and protect their votes.
She further encouraged grassroots supporters to continue engaging communities and communicating the administration’s development programmes to residents.
Mrs. Mbah appealed to the people of Enugu West to support Governor Mbah’s re-election, saying continuity would enable the administration to build on projects and programmes already underway.
She described governance as a collective responsibility, stressing that citizens also have a role to play in ensuring that development initiatives succeed.
Women Present Gifts
The rally also featured the presentation of gifts to Mrs. Mbah by various groups.
The gifts included cows and assorted food items, which the organisers described as gestures of appreciation and solidarity.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; Chairman of the Enugu State APC, Hon. Dr. Martins Chukwunweike; and the member representing Awgu North Constituency and leader in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jane Eneh.
Others included the Enugu West Zonal Deputy Women Leader, Hon. Dr. Oby Echi; President of the National Council for Women’s Society, Enugu State Chapter, Hon. Dr. Chichi Ogbu; Enugu State APC Action Women Leader, Hon. Mrs. Esther Edeh; Commissioner for Gender, Children and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Eneh; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke; and Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Hon. Prof. Benedette Okoli.
The five Local Government Area chairmen and their wives, women leaders, traditional rulers, board and commission members and other community stakeholders also attended.
The rally ended with participants reaffirming their support for Governor Mbah and expressing their desire for the continuation of the administration’s development programmes across Enugu State.
