…Campaign Organisation promises aggressive grassroots mobilisation, ward tours begin Sept 7
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council and State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council for the party’s candidate in the September 26 local government election in Enugu State, Engr. Mike Chikaosolu Ogbuekwe.

Edeh inaugurated the campaign organisation at the ALGON office, charging members to take the campaign seriously, ennsuring that the party’s message gets to the grassroots across Nkanu East.
He urged them to approach the assignment with dedication and seriousness, stressing that the experience and structures developed during the council election would be critical to subsequent political engagements.
Edeh also observed that the achievements of Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, across the state would make the campaign easier, noting that the administration’s projects and programmes had impacted communities across the state.
“Dr. Peter Mbah is working and we are all seeing the impact all around us, and down to every community. Every community has something new to show in the forms of Smart Green Schools, Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, roads, and more. So, ours is just to robustly propagate them,” he stated.
He charged the campaign council to effectively market both the APC and its candidate to the people at the grassroots, describing Ogbuekwe, popularly known as Mmirioma I of Nkerefi, as a “sellable personality” with proven credentials and a track record.
The ALGON chairman expressed confidence in the capacity of the members of the campaign organisation, urging them to work as a united team and demonstrate commitment to the task before them.

Responding on behalf of the campaign organisation, the Director-General, Prince Chukwuemeka Nwatu, thanked Edeh, Ogbuekwe and the party leadership for the confidence reposed in the members.
Nwatu assured that his team would not take anything for granted, but would work tirelessly to mobilise support for the candidate and the APC.
He noted that the election was particularly important as it would serve as a prelude to the campaigns for the presidential, governorship and other elections.
The Campaign DG announced that the team would commence a tour of the 14 wards of the LGA on September 7, saying the local government -wide tour would provide an opportunity for the candidate and his team to engage directly with residents, listen to their concerns and present the campaign’s message to voters across the local government.
Meanwhile, speaking at the inauguration, the APC flag bearer, Engr. Mike Chikaosolu Ogbuekwe, expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, party leaders and members for giving him the opportunity to aspire to serve, describing it as a call to greater responsibility and service to the people.
Ogbuekwe commended the governor for what he described as the “great works” being executed across Enugu State, saying the transformation being witnessed in different parts of the state had demonstrated the administration’s commitment to development.
He said if elected chairman of Nkanu East, he would draw inspiration from the governor’s leadership style and footsteps in piloting the affairs of the local government.
“I am deeply grateful to His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for giving me this opportunity to serve. I also commend him for the great works he is doing across Enugu State. I will take his footsteps in piloting the affairs of Nkanu East and ensure that the people feel the impact of the government,” Ogbuekwe said.
He also said his emergence as the APC candidate was not merely a personal achievement but a call to service, promising to work with stakeholders and residents of Nkanu East to advance the interests of the people.
The candidate urged members of the campaign council to regard their appointments as responsibilities rather than titles, stressing that their primary duty was to connect with the people and communicate the party’s message effectively.
“This campaign is not about one individual; it is about the people of Nkanu East and the future we can build together,” he said.
Ogbuekwe also called on party supporters to remain united, peaceful and focused throughout the campaign, assuring that his campaign would be based on engagement with the people.
“We will go to the wards, communities and villages, listen to our people and make our case before them. We will not take anyone for granted, and we will not leave any part of Nkanu East untouched,” he added.
