…Advises NDC Against Campaigning in Ngwo Land

Kenneth Ani Kofi, has announced the rejection of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) by the Ngwo Clan and declared the community’s support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other candidates endorsed by the group.
The position was contained in a statement signed by Ani Kofi, President of the Ngwo Clan General Assembly, dated September 11, 2026, and made available to newsmen in Enugu.
Ani Kofi accused the NDC of politically marginalising the people of Ngwo and failing to recognise what he described as the clan’s historical contributions to the development and political evolution of Enugu State.
He alleged that several Ngwo sons and daughters participated in the NDC and obtained nomination forms for various elective positions, but none was eventually given the party’s ticket.
He further cited the case of an Ngwo indigene who, according to him, won the NDC primary election for the Udi South State Constituency but was subsequently not fielded by the party.
The Ngwo Clan General Assembly President also recalled the role played by the late Chief C.C. Onoh in the struggle for the creation of Enugu State, questioning what he described as continued political discrimination against Ngwo.
According to him, the development had prompted the Ngwo Clan to reject the NDC and its candidates at all levels, from the presidential election down to councillorship, while advising the party against campaigning in Ngwo land.
The assembly endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah; Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District; Senator Kelvin Chukwu; Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu; Dr. Festus Uzor; Dr. Okey Aneke; Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area; Engr. Hyginus Agu; and other APC candidates across various levels.
Ani Kofi said the endorsement was based on the assembly’s belief that the APC had demonstrated commitment to equity, justice, fairness, inclusive governance and development.
He assured Governor Mbah of the support of the Ngwo people and pledged that the clan would mobilise for the APC, beginning with the forthcoming local government elections.
He also commended Senator Osita Ngwu for what he described as impactful representation, particularly in the areas of road infrastructure, scholarships, empowerment and human-capital development.
Similarly, he praised the administration of Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh in Enugu North Local Government Area, citing interventions in healthcare, youth empowerment, education, human-capital development, security and infrastructure.
Ani Kofi expressed confidence that Onoh’s re-election would be achievable on the strength of what he described as his performance in office.
He maintained that inclusive governance, fairness, equity and justice require leaders who listen to the people, respect diverse interests and remain committed to development.
He further assured Governor Mbah that the Ngwo Clan would work towards delivering the APC in the forthcoming elections and subsequent electoral contests.
