Ogui People Endorse Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh for Second Term

Ogui people, under the aegis of Ogui Nike Forum in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State, have endorsed the candidacy of APC’s Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh to continue his leadership as the Executive Chairman of the council.

The group said Dr. Onoh’s projects, programmes and policies have greatly impacted the lives of many in the council, especially people from Ogui community.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Sunday, the coordinator of the group, Barr. Emerie Arum, said Enugu North Local Government has never had it so good as they are having under the leadership of Dr. Ibenaku Onoh.

He posited that Ogui alone has benefited from over 2 kilometres of roads, gotten more than 150 pieces of street lights, and had about 70 of their people trained on vocational learning, courtesy of Dr. Onoh’s administration, adding that his administration is an all round administration in terms of work efficiency and service delivery.

According to Barr. Emerie, “Ogui Nike Forum is endorsing Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh to go for a second tenure. He has performed beyond expectations in every aspect of governance, both in health, education, security, infrastructure, human capital development and social welfare. Ogui, as a community, has benefited more. Look at the 2km Ukwa Street/Ihewuishi Road Project that he reconstructed and asphalted. He has shared about 103 solar powered street lights across streets in Ogui axis and donated 2 Sienna vehicles for neighbourhood watch groups in Ogui axis. In his programmes with Copen Group and Poterswill, more than 70 indigenes and residents of Ogui have benefited, trained and empowered across 40 vocational skills that include bricklaying, electrical installation, plumbing, tiling, baking, detergent production and so on. That is why, when we talk about Dr. Ibeh going for a second tenure, we are not doing it for personal political gains but for continuity of good governance.”

Barr. Arum also praised Dr. Onoh’s proactive steps in upholding Governor Mbah’s footprints in Enugu North Local Government Area, as it has positioned the council as a reference point for grassroots leadership.

“Dr. Onoh has ensured that we feel the impacts of what Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah is doing. The ‘we’ that I mean is not just ndị Enugu North but Ogui people. The smart school in Queen’s Secondary School is one of the first to start operation in the state and one of the best. What about the health centre in Aguowo? It has remained one of the best in the state. That is a clear reference of grassroots interest fulfilment in local government administration. So, he is good to go and will deliver more in the next 2 years.”

The group further said that the decision to support Dr. Onoh is based on what it described as visible results across different sectors of the council, stressing that the administration has demonstrated that local government leadership can directly touch the lives of residents through infrastructure, skills acquisition, security support, education and social interventions.

They maintained that the continuation of such programmes would provide an opportunity for ongoing projects to be completed and for more residents to benefit from the administration’s human capital development initiatives.

They, however, called on Ogui people and other residents of Enugu North to support the bid for continuity and sustained grassroots development by coming out en masse to vote for APC on September 26 during the local government council elections.
