APC Campaign Train Draws Strong Support in Ihewuzhi, New Layout as Onoh’s Re-Election Bid Gathers Momentum

…Stakeholders commend projects, inclusive leadership; reaffirm support for Mbah, Onoh, APC candidates

The Enugu North APC Campaign Train on Thursday received a warm reception in Ihewuzhi Ward 3 and New Layout Ward 8, as residents, party faithful and community stakeholders came out in large numbers to welcome the team and engage with its candidates ahead of the September 26, 2026 local government elections.

Among those on the campaign train were the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area and APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Hartford Onoh; his Deputy, Hon. Echezona Ugwu; Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Emeka Aroh; the Majority Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and member representing Enugu North State Constituency, Hon. Johnson Samuel Ani; Senator Kelvin Chukwu of Enugu East Senatorial District, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Victor; party leaders, elected representatives, community leaders, women leaders, former council officials and other stakeholders.

At Ihewuzhi Ward 3, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Anike Raphael, welcomed the team and commended the council administration for projects executed in the community, particularly the construction of a community road and provision of streetlights.

Raphael also commended the administration’s inclusive engagement with the community and expressed the ward’s continued commitment to the APC.

The ward councillor, Hon. Nnaji, and the APC councillorship candidate, Hon. Monday Nnamani, also spoke in support of the administration. Nnamani assured the campaign team of the ward’s commitment to the party.

The President-General of Ogui community, Chief Ifesinachi Arum, also expressed support for the APC. Among the other stakeholders present were former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Chukwuka Dibia Anyogu; Hon. Engr. Chinedu Nnam; Chief Abel Arum; and Hon. Barr. Dubem Anibeze.

The campaign train later moved to New Layout Ward 8, where the Ward Chairman, Hon. Emeka, alongside party leaders and community stakeholders, received the delegation.

The APC councillorship candidate, Hon. Jideofor Michael Ugwuagu, assured the team of the ward’s support, while Hon. Fortune Ezike commended the Mayor’s leadership and called for continued support for Dr. Onoh, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Hon. Johnson Samuel Ani and other APC candidates.

Chief Ejike Nwankwo, Chief CNN Nwagbara and Mrs. Ngozi Nnorobi also spoke during the engagement, highlighting projects in the area and the Mayor’s relationship with the community.

Speaking during the campaign engagements, APC Chairman in Enugu North, Chief Ernest Onuoha, thanked the residents for the impressive turnout and highlighted the administration of Governor Peter Mbah, as well as the projects and initiatives of the Onoh-led council.

The Majority Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnson Samuel Ani, also thanked the people of the two wards for their reception and urged them to sustain their support for Dr. Onoh and other APC candidates in the September 26 council election.

In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Hartford Onoh expressed his profound appreciation to the people of Ihewuzhi Ward 3 and New Layout Ward 8 for the warm reception and impressive turnout.

Dr. Onoh said the engagements were designed to bring the campaign closer to the people, interact directly with residents and seek their continued support ahead of the September 26 council election.

He thanked the people for the confidence and support his administration has enjoyed, assuring them that the council would continue to pursue development across Enugu North while remaining responsive to the needs and aspirations of its communities.

The APC chairmanship candidate further urged residents to remain committed to the party and support its candidates, stressing the importance of continued partnership between the council, the APC and the people at the grassroots.

The campaign engagements in the two wards brought party leaders and candidates face-to-face with residents, with community stakeholders using the opportunity to highlight local concerns, acknowledge ongoing interventions and articulate their expectations ahead of the council election.
