…Stakeholders welcome campaign team, commend party leadership and ongoing government interventions

The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign train in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State on Thursday moved through Ituku, Isuu Awaa and Agbudu, drawing community leaders, women, youths and party supporters ahead of the September 26, 2026 local government election.

Led by the Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA and APC candidate, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, alongside his deputy, Dr. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, the campaign team visited the three communities as part of its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.

At the various stops, community and political stakeholders expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Chairman Okolo and other APC candidates.

The meetings also provided an opportunity for residents and party leaders to interact directly with the campaign team and speak about their expectations as the election approaches.

The campaign train first arrived at Ituku, where Chairman Okolo, Dr. Ezediuto and members of their delegation were received by community leaders, women, youths and APC supporters.

The programme opened with prayers led by Uchenna Okeke, followed by goodwill messages and addresses from community and political stakeholders.

Speakers commended APC State Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, for his leadership and coordination of the party’s activities in Enugu State, while also expressing solidarity with Tinubu, Mbah, Okolo and other APC candidates.

Community representatives also commended Governor Mbah over ongoing government projects in the area, describing the interventions as beneficial to the people and surrounding communities.

Those who addressed the gathering included the President-General of Ituku, Romanus Okoye; Hon. Uchenna Nebo; Mrs. Gladys Chukwu; Hon. Olisah Okoro; Chief Anthony Udeh; Barr. Judge Igbokwe; Campaign Director, Hon. Okey Udeh; Hon. Charles Ezenta, APC candidate for Awgu North State Constituency; APC Chairman in Awgu LGA, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo; and APC State Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike.

A major highlight of the gathering was the presentation of the APC party flag to the councillorship candidate for Ituku, Isuu Awaa, Agbudu Ward, Hon. Ngene.

From Ituku, the campaign team proceeded to Agbudu, where traditional leaders, community representatives, women, youths and party supporters gathered to receive the delegation.

The opening prayer was led by Rev. Canon Victor Nnalue, while the Onowu of Agbudu, Chief John Igwesi, offered prayers and performed the traditional presentation of kola nut.

Speaking at the gathering, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, member of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Awgu North Constituency, thanked Chairman Okolo, Dr. Chukwunweike and other members of the campaign team for visiting the community.

Eneh highlighted some of the interventions recorded in the area, including a borehole project and solar street lights, while expressing appreciation for the attention being given to communities.

The delegation later moved to Isuu Awaa, where residents and APC supporters turned out to welcome the campaign team.

Dr. Chukwunweike, who said he hails from the ward, spoke about development projects under the state government and local government administration and urged residents to participate actively in the electoral process.

He called on supporters to remain united and peaceful during the election period and reiterated his appeal for support for President Tinubu, Governor Mbah, Chairman Okolo and other APC candidates.

Chukwunweike also reminded supporters that the APC’s symbol on the ballot is the broom.

Responding to the reception across the three communities, Chairman Okolo thanked the people for their support and hospitality.

He also appreciated Dr. Chukwunweike and other party leaders who joined the campaign tour, stressing the importance of maintaining close contact with communities.

Okolo appealed to residents to support President Tinubu, Governor Mbah and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also seeking their mandate in the September 26 local government election.

He assured the people that his administration would continue to engage communities, listen to their concerns and work towards addressing issues affecting residents across Awgu.

The campaign tour further underscores the growing political activity in Awgu ahead of the September 26 local government election, with the APC continuing its community-level mobilisation across the local government area.

ENSIEC said on September 14 that it was more than 90 per cent ready for the election, with logistics and training of electoral personnel nearing completion, according to Ugamatvnews.

The APC campaign is expected to continue with further engagements across Awgu as the September 26 poll draws closer.
