The drums of electioneering fell silent in Awgu on Wednesday as the All Progressives Congress, APC, drew the curtain on its chairmanship and councillorship campaigns, with the political machinery of Senator Osita Ngwu making its presence felt at the grand finale in Agbogugu.

The rally, held at Central School, Agbogugu, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, supporters and grassroots mobilisers from across Awgu Local Government Area, three days before the September 26 local government elections.

Senator Ngwu, who represents Enugu West Senatorial District, was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chief Emeka Aneke, Iheanaeboagu, and Prince Emeka Joe Udeh, Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Awgu LGA.

They were joined by other members of the Senator’s entourage and participated in the proceedings, conveying his message of solidarity to the party and its candidates as the campaign entered its final lap.

The Senator’s delegation added another layer to an occasion that was already charged with the urgency of an election only days away. Across the venue, party faithful used the gathering to demonstrate support for the APC candidates and reinforce the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of Saturday’s poll.

For the organisers, the Agbogugu gathering was the final political procession before the real contest begins—not on the campaign stage, but at the polling units.

With the campaign now concluded, the political battle in Awgu moves into its decisive phase, as voters prepare to exercise their franchise on September 26.
