₦912.2m Federal Grants Reach 18,244 Nano Entrepreneurs Across Enugu

No longer limited to enumeration figures, the Federal Government’s Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme has translated into direct financial support for 18,244 verified nano and micro entrepreneurs across Enugu State.

Each beneficiary received a non-repayable grant of ₦50,000, bringing the total value of the grants disbursed to approximately ₦912.2 million.

The beneficiaries cut across various sectors of the grassroots economy, including petty trading, artisanship, food vending, creative enterprises, transportation, information and communications technology, and other small-scale businesses.

The development follows efforts by the Enugu State Government, under the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to facilitate access to federal intervention programmes for residents and businesses across the state.

As part of the process, enumeration and support points were established across the state’s 17 Local Government Areas, while prospective beneficiaries were mobilised and assisted to participate in the programme.

The outcome, according to the figures provided, is 18,244 verified beneficiaries across all 17 LGAs, with each entrepreneur receiving ₦50,000 in direct financial support.

For many of the beneficiaries, the intervention provides additional working capital to restock shops, purchase raw materials, acquire tools, increase production or sustain day-to-day operations.

The grants therefore represent more than a headline figure, with the funds reaching small businesses that contribute significantly to household incomes and economic activity at the grassroots.

For Enugu’s nano and micro entrepreneurs, the intervention provides another avenue for accessing capital and strengthening their businesses.
