The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Enugu State, Prof. Ndubueze Leonard Mbah, has congratulated the newly elected and re-elected chairmen and vice-chairmen of the 17 local government areas of the state.

The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) declared the results of the September 26 local government elections on Sunday, with the APC winning all 17 chairmanship positions and the 260 councillorship seats across the state. Twelve of the 17 chairmen-elect were returned for a second term.
According to the Commissioner, the Ministry of Education is ready to strengthen its partnership with the local governments to advance the administration’s education transformation agenda.
He said the collaboration would be particularly important in ensuring that ongoing investments in education translate into improved learning opportunities, skills development and better outcomes for children and young people across the state.
Mbah stated that the focus would include the completion, equipping, onboarding and operationalisation of the state’s Smart Green Schools, Smart Senior Secondary Schools and modern Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.
“Together, let us complete, equip, onboard, and operationalize every Smart Green School, Smart Senior Secondary School, and modern TVET College.
“Let this education revolution reach every learner and rewrite Enugu’s future. Let us catalyze Enugu’s economic leapfrog.
“Together, we can. Tomorrow Is Here,” he said.
The state’s education transformation programme includes the development of 260 Smart Green Schools, with the Ministry of Education describing the initiative as a key component of its strategy to build a highly skilled workforce and drive economic development.
The Ministry has also established the Enugu Education Management System (ENEMS), an AI-based platform designed to support the administration of the Smart Green Schools and integrate teacher, learner, assessment and experiential-learning systems.
Mbah urged the newly elected and re-elected council leaders to see their mandates as an opportunity to support initiatives that directly improve the lives and prospects of residents at the grassroots.
He expressed optimism that stronger cooperation between the state government and local governments would accelerate the implementation of the education agenda and contribute to the broader development objectives of the state.
