The Chief of Staff to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Barr. Victor Udeh, has urged APC members in Enugu West Senatorial District to support the re-election of Mbah, President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections, citing development projects and the prospect of power rotation.

Udeh made the call at the APC Enugu West Zonal Meeting at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters at the weekend, highlighting investments in education, healthcare, aviation and infrastructure as reasons to support the administration.

He listed the establishment of Enugu Air, the construction of 268 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, and the ongoing international hospital project among the government’s initiatives.

He said Enugu Air was expected to begin flights from Enugu to Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom by December 2026, while a route to Guangzhou, China, was projected for the first quarter of 2027.

On power rotation, Udeh urged Enugu West residents to consider the implications of their political choices, arguing that Mbah’s re-election could create an opportunity for the governorship to return to the district.

“Enugu West, we should not sell our birthright. Let us not listen to those who promise to do one term. They are deceiving us,” he said.

Udeh also defended Mbah’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, saying efforts to resolve challenges within the former party had preceded the move. He said the defection had strengthened the state’s relationship with the Federal Government.

He cited President Tinubu’s approval of a gas pipeline for the South-East, ongoing work on the Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-Port Harcourt and Ninth Mile-Markurdi roads, and the rehabilitation of the Eastern railway corridor linking Port Harcourt, Aba and Enugu.

Udeh expressed optimism that Enugu could secure additional ministerial representation after the 2027 elections. He also announced plans for women’s empowerment programmes, including financial assistance and grants for women-owned small businesses.

The meeting was attended by former PDP acting National Secretary, Chief Sunday Ude-Okoye; members of the Enugu State Executive Council from the zone; local government chairmen; political appointees and other party stakeholders.

The APC Enugu West Zonal Chairman, Chief Chimaobi Nze, presided over the meeting, where participants urged party members to protect their votes and work towards the success of APC candidates in 2027.
