…Communities applaud Gov. Mbah’s grassroots development drive as Agency advances community-led interventions
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has stepped up its grassroots development drive in Enugu North Local Government Area, sensitising communities and preparing them for project interventions under the NG-CARES 2.0 programme.

The initiative, led by the General Manager of CSDA, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, alongside members of the Agency’s management and staff, forms part of the Enugu State Government’s sustained efforts to promote inclusive development, improve access to essential services and ensure that government interventions respond directly to the needs of the people.

The sensitisation exercise attracted an impressive gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, institutional heads and other stakeholders, including His Royal Highness, Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu of Ogui-Nike Umunevo Community; the Deputy Mayor of Enugu North LGA, Hon. Echezona Ugwu; the Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Prof. Gozie Ogbodo; and the Deputy Rector, Dr. Emeka Ejim, among other distinguished personalities.

Their presence highlighted the importance of collective responsibility and strategic collaboration among government institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders in advancing sustainable development at the grassroots.

Addressing the participants, the CSDA team emphasised the importance of active community participation in determining development priorities through the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) process. Residents were encouraged to identify and articulate their most pressing needs, ensuring that proposed interventions reflect the actual challenges confronting their communities.

The Agency also stressed the need for unity, cooperation and collective ownership throughout the project identification and implementation process, noting that sustainable development is most effective when beneficiaries are actively involved in shaping the interventions designed for them.

The communities captured under the NG-CARES 2.0 intervention in Enugu North include Umunevo, Ogui-Nike; Ihewuzi, Ogui-Nike; Poultry Side; Ologo; Ukwuna Community; IMT Community; Hausa Community; Coal Camp axis; and Iva Valley.
The development has generated optimism among the beneficiary communities, which stand to benefit from interventions aimed at addressing critical local needs, improving public health, enhancing living conditions and strengthening access to basic social infrastructure.

The sensitised communities are expected to receive project interventions upon the successful completion of the required documentation and other necessary processes.

The exercise further reinforces Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s commitment to taking development beyond urban centres and ensuring that communities across Enugu State are not left behind. Through the NG-CARES 2.0 programme, the state government continues to advance a people-centred development model that places grassroots participation, equity and sustainable impact at the heart of governance.

Under the leadership of Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, CSDA remains committed to deepening community engagement, strengthening local ownership of development projects and translating the state government’s development vision into tangible benefits for ordinary residents.
