The Enugu State Ministry of Information, administratively headed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ben Ezema, organized a befitting send-forth ceremony in honor of the Ministry’s immediate past Commissioner, Hon. Aka Eze Aka, on Thursday, November 7, 2024. The event, held at the Ministry of Information Conference Hall at the New State Secretariat GRA Enugu, commenced with a prayer led by the HOD Administration and Supplies (A&S), Mrs. Adimora Ugochukwu.

Present at the event were the Management staff of the Ministry and its affiliated agencies, including the MD Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Mr. Ladi Akeredolu; Director of Information, Mr. Neboh Chukwuemeka; Legal Head, Barr. Cynthia Okeke; HOD Archives, Ogbogu Josephine Ngozi; HOD Planning, Research and Statistics, Nnamuchi Christy; HOD Finance & Accounts (F&A) Daily Star, Odua Ngozi; HOD (F&A) Ministry of Information, Ugwuoju Michael; HOD (A&S), Adimora Ugochukwu; HOD Commercial (ESBS), Ani James; HOD Publication and Graphics, Okafor Anthonia; Director (F&A) Govt. In his opening remarks, Dr. Ben Ezema stated that the former Commissioner came, saw, and conquered, describing him as possessing the qualities of financial prudence, simplicity, humility, thriving on ideas, firm, and never listening to gossip. He urged Hon. Aka to keep up the good work even in the discharge of his new assignment.
Speaking also at the event, the Director of Information, Mr. Neboh Chukwuemeka, concurred with Dr. Ezema’s submissions, adding that Hon. Aka Eze Aka is a very good listener. The Director of F&A Govt. Press, Ochibe Theresa, sang in appreciation of the Almighty God for His blessings on Hon. Aka Eze Aka.
The Ag. MD of Daily Star, Mr. Nnamani Friday, fondly referring to Hon. Aka as “Aka The Last,” remarked that perseverance and diligence can lead anybody to succeed, urging him to remain himself and never discard the named qualities. The Managing Director, ESBS, in his own words, described Hon. Aka as one who remains calm in the midst of a raging situation, urging him to shine forth into the political realm.
Hon. Aka Eze Aka, a renowned journalist, was appointed as the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Information, following his track records and expertise in discharging his journalistic duties. This prowess was made evident in his led administration as the Honourable Commissioner for Information in the state with the introduction of the popular Mass Enlightenment Program “The New Narrative” professionally packaged to bring to the information corridors and doors of the Enugu citizens, Nigeria, and the world at large the groundbreaking and transformative reforms of the able and working Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Receiving the send-forth gift and farewell package, the former Commissioner, Hon. Aka Eze Aka, who contested and clinched victory on the platform of the ruling People’s Democratic Party as the Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area in the just-concluded Local Government elections in the state, expressed his profound gratitude to the Management and Staff of the Ministry.
In his words, Hon. Aka stated, “I am overwhelmed! I don’t know where to start, I am grateful. Today should be registered as one of my greatest days in life.” He noted that there are three significant things in his life, including his survival from birth till date, the gift of a bundle of joy after 21 years of marriage, following his appointment as Hon. Commissioner for Information by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and the send-forth which he described as a special show of care and pampering.
Hon. Aka equally thanked the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ezema, who he described as possessing fatherly qualities worthy of emulation, while also extending his gratitude to the entire Management, praying that God will grant him the opportunity to pay them back in golden coin, urging them to remain punctual and hardworking.
He finally expressed his profound joy and gratitude to the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for finding him worthy to serve as the Hon. Commissioner, hence the honor being accorded him today, to which he invited his close friends; The Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Ajogwu Sunday Emeka and Barr. Ejiofor Asogwa.
Hon. Ajogwu appreciated the team for the show of love and appreciation accorded his friend Hon. Aka Eze Aka. Likewise, Barr. Ejiofor Asogwa thanked the team for celebrating his friend, praying that they will equally be celebrated.
It was indeed a day of joy and appreciation as the Chairman of the planning committee, Barr. Cynthia Okeke, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at an event where a man who deserves honor; The Renowned Journalist, immediate Past Commissioner and the Present Mayor of Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Mayor Aka Eze Aka was honoured.
