The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has issued a stern warning to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Amaechi, while speaking at the National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria, had declared that Nigerian politicians must “steal, maim, and kill” to remain in power. Matawalle described the comments as “reckless and dangerous,” saying they were an attempt to radicalize the youth and destabilize national security.
“It is both reckless and dangerous for a former public office holder to make such inflammatory remarks,” Matawalle said in a statement. “At a time when the government is working tirelessly to consolidate national unity and security, no responsible leader should fan the flames of violence and political unrest.”
Matawalle emphasized that power is earned through democracy, not intimidation, violence, or lawlessness. He urged Nigerians to trust President Tinubu’s leadership and disregard Amaechi’s remarks, which he described as “politically irrelevant and out of touch with the realities of national development.”
The Defence Minister also reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to upholding peace, democratic values, and national security. “President Tinubu’s commitment to the unity and progress of our great nation is unwavering,” he stated.
The controversy has sparked a heated debate about the role of politicians in Nigerian society and the need for responsible leadership. As the debate continues, Matawalle’s warning to Amaechi serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to maintaining national unity and security.
