Why Nnamdi Kanu Apologised – Wife

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has apologized in court for his misconduct during his terrorism trial. According to his wife, Uchechi Kanu, the apology was a strategic move facilitated by his new legal counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.

Kanu’s apology was contained in a prepared address presented by Chief Agabi, where he pleaded for forgiveness and pledged to behave well throughout his trial. Specifically, Kanu apologized to Justice Binta Nyako and prosecutor Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, for his past outbursts and insults in open court.

Chief Agabi explained that while Kanu had reason to be angry, he should not have spoken out of anger. Awomolo, SAN, accepted Kanu’s apology, stating that he was moved by the plea and has forgiven Kanu for his past statements.

In a related development, Justice Omotosho, who presided over the matter, acknowledged the delays in Kanu’s case and apologized for the prolonged legal ordeal he had endured.
