The project’s technical foresight is evident in its design, with Hon. Onwuegbu ensuring that the foundation—drainage and culverts—is built to professional standards. This attention to detail underscores the lawmaker’s understanding of the importance of quality groundwork in ensuring the project’s longevity.
The project’s specifications are noteworthy. With a total length of approximately 19.4 kilometers, the Obune – Ugwuoba – Ekwere Inyi corridor in Oji River LGA is undergoing a transformation. Ferotex Engineering, the initial contractor, handled the earthworks phase, which began in 2022. The current phase, which started in 2024, focuses on drainage and structural finishing. The incorporation of concrete U-shaped drains, culverts, and erosion control features will undoubtedly enhance the road’s durability and safety.
As the project progresses, the impact on the local community is becoming increasingly evident. Residents who have long been accustomed to the challenges posed by the road’s poor condition are now witnessing a transformation. One community elder aptly captured the sentiment, stating, “This road has never been touched since we were born. But today, we see progress, and we are hopeful.” The project’s influence extends beyond the physical infrastructure, as it is already beginning to reshape economic life in the region.
Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu’s leadership style is characterized by a commitment to delivering results rather than rhetoric. As a seasoned engineer and Federal Lawmaker, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise and legislative advocacy to his work. This approach has enabled him to bridge the gap between Abuja and the local people, ensuring that critical projects like the Afor Ugwuoba road are not only approved but also implemented with visible, measurable outcomes.
The Afor Ugwuoba Road Project underscores the power of effective leadership and strategic planning. By prioritizing lasting development and leveraging his technical expertise, Hon. Onwuegbu is making a tangible impact on the lives of the people he represents. As the project nears completion, the people of Ugwuoba and surrounding communities have reason to be optimistic about the future.
