
The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has announced plans to embark on a landmark road construction project that will deliver one kilometer of asphalt road in each of the eleven wards of the council area.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The initiative, made public through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, is aimed at transforming access roads across Awgu, particularly those leading to the newly established Smart Green Schools.
According to Hon. Okolo, the projects will commence immediately from Ugwueme Road, with other wards to follow in the coming days. He explained that the council is taking advantage of the current break in the rains to fast-track the delivery of the roads.
“This initiative is not just about roads; it is about connecting our people to opportunities, education, and economic growth. We are determined to complement the visionary agenda of our dear Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose leadership has redefined grassroots development and inclusive governance in Enugu State,” Okolo said.
The council boss emphasized that the road projects, when completed, will enhance rural transportation, ease the evacuation of agricultural produce, and improve access to educational facilities.
He described the effort as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, stressing that it aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision of sustainable governance that gives equal priority to both rural and urban communities.
Okolo further reassured residents of Awgu that his administration remains committed to people-centered leadership, adding that the road infrastructure will strengthen local economies, promote social development, and improve living standards across all communities.
“We are building on Governor Mbah’s legacy of purposeful governance. Awgu LGA will remain a proud partner in driving forward his vision of an Enugu State where no community is left behind,” he affirmed.
