In less than two years in office, the governor has successfully brought back to life projects that had been left in ruins for decades. Among them are the International Conference Centre, Sunrise Flour Mills, United Palm Products Ltd (UPPL), Hotel Presidential, and now Niger Gas Limited, a pioneering industrial enterprise founded 62 years ago under the leadership of former Eastern Region Premier, Dr. Michael Okpara.

Niger Gas Limited, once a household name and one of Nigeria’s earliest gas bottling companies, had fallen into decline due to years of poor investment and mismanagement. Through strategic private sector partnership, the company has now been restored as a vital player in the gas industry.

The company is currently producing Liquid Oxygen, Medical Oxygen, Industrial Oxygen, and Acetylene Gas, while plans are underway to add Nitrogen, Argon Gas, Carbon Dioxide, and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations to its product line.

The official relaunch ceremony is scheduled to hold at 12 noon on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Niger Gas Limited premises in Emene, Enugu.

For many stakeholders, Governor Mbah’s interventions are not just about restoring dormant enterprises but also transforming them into productive assets capable of stimulating economic growth. This aligns with his administration’s ambitious plan to expand Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion GDP.

As Enugu celebrates this milestone, the revival of Niger Gas stands as yet another testament to Mbah’s vision of turning forgotten assets into engines of prosperity.

Tomorrow is truly here.
