A significant development has unfolded in the Nsukka cultural zone with the appointment of Reverend Father Dr. Chidubem Nwaogaidu, a German returnee, as the Executive Secretary of the Adada Education Foundation. This philanthropic initiative, established by illustrious sons and daughters of Nsukka, aims to support indigent students and equip them with entrepreneurial skills.

The appointment was officially announced in Enugu on Wednesday by Dr. Chinedu Onu, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees (BoT), during a meeting of executives and ad hoc staff of the organization. Alongside Fr. Nwaogaidu, Ven. Christian Eze was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Foundation.

According to Dr. Onu, the appointments were made following nominations by the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Prof. Godfrey Onah, and the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Dr. Aloysius Agbo, based on the integrity of the nominees. These nominations were subsequently ratified by the BoT.

Describing the Foundation as a people-oriented platform built on the principle of collectivism (Igwebuike) rather than individualism (Ike otuonye), Dr. Onu emphasized its mission to ensure access to quality education and lay the groundwork for an industrial revolution in the zone. He stated, “When I birthed this initiative, I had the progress of our people at heart. We have brilliant young men and women who are gifted with intelligence but lack the resources to attain tertiary education. We also have graduates with first class degrees roaming the streets unemployed. With this initiative, we can mop them up, send them overseas to further their studies, and help them secure jobs. Once they get jobs, our diaspora remittances will increase, and they too will begin to support others.”

Dr. Onu further clarified that the initiative has no political connotation, highlighting the presence of individuals from different political parties on the BoT. He stressed that the project belongs to the entire people of Nsukka, not just himself, and expressed hope that during their three-year tenure, the appointees would drive the Foundation to enviable heights.

In his acceptance speech, Fr. Nwaogaidu praised the vision of the Foundation, describing it as a transformative initiative that would change the fortunes of indigent youths in the zone through education. He said, “When I first heard about this, I was very happy because I knew that something transformative had come to stay in our place. I thank Dr. Chinedu Onu for thinking out of the box. It shows a genuine intention to make our land better. I am also happy to see reputable people as BoT members, including our Lord Bishops from the two leading denominations in Nsukka. I assure you that this lamp will keep burning brighter and brighter under our watch.”

The Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, congratulated the appointees and urged all Nsukka indigenes to support the project.

The occasion was marked by the official handover of a brand-new Ingrace Estel vehicle donated to the Foundation by Dr. Onu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Ingrace Multi Concept Limited, alongside other assets of the organization to the new leadership.

The event drew a gathering of eminent dignitaries, including the Special Adviser to the Enugu State Governor on Diaspora Matters, Mrs. Ezekwu Olangwa; Chairman, Nsukka Anglican Diocesan Education Board, Prof. Kay Onyechi; former Deputy Chief of Staff, Enugu State Government, Prof. Malachy Okwueze; His Worship, Nkechi Ngwu; former Executive Secretary, Enugu State Scholarship Board, Barr. Levis Abonyi; Dr. Onyejiri Chikodi; among other notable personalities.
