Enugu State Government Announces Temporary Closure of Abakpa Nike Road, Provides Alternate Routes for Motorists

The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has announced the temporary closure of Abakpa Nike Road, specifically at the Last Bus Stop location, to allow for the construction of a box culvert as part of the ongoing dualization project in the area.

According to the Ministry, the closure will begin at 12 midnight on Thursday, October 2, 2025, and is expected to last for three weeks.

Explaining the reason for the action, the Ministry stated that the measure is necessary to enable the contractor to complete the culvert construction safely, effectively, and within the scheduled timeframe. It also acknowledged that the development may cause inconvenience to motorists and residents but appealed for their understanding and cooperation.

To ease traffic disruption, the Ministry announced that alternative routes have been prepared for road users. These include Obinagu Road, Texacoโ€“Amurri Roadโ€“Nowas Junctionโ€“T-Junction, Libertyโ€“Edward Nnaji Streetโ€“Ugwunwani Streetโ€“Corner Stoneโ€“T-Junction, and Libertyโ€“Edward Nnaji Streetโ€“Ogwuagoโ€“Harmony Roadโ€“Nkwo Nike Junction/Nike Lake.

The Ministry urged motorists to make use of the designated routes to navigate around the construction area.

While apologizing for any inconvenience the closure might cause, the State Government assured residents, particularly those in Abakpa, of its commitment to improving road infrastructure for the benefit of all.
