The Enugu Grassroots Mobilisation Force, popularly known as G17, on Thursday threw its full weight behind Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s second-term ambition, declaring its unwavering support for his re-election ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.

The declaration came during the group’s Strategic Stakeholders Meeting held at the prestigious Destiny Event Centre, Nza Street, Independence Layout, Enugu. The event, which exuded glamour, unity, and enthusiasm, drew a large and distinguished crowd of traditional rulers, clergy, political stalwarts, market leaders, youth and women organisations, and community influencers from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
A major highlight of the meeting was the crowning of Governor Mbah as the Grand Patron of G17, a title reserved for visionary leaders whose legacies transcend time. According to the organisers, the recognition was a tribute to the Governor’s exceptional leadership, visionary governance, and transformative achievements across multiple sectors — including infrastructure, education, agriculture, digital economy, and fiscal innovation — accomplished in just two years of his administration.
The event hall erupted in applause and cheers as the Governor’s achievements were recounted, with participants describing the recognition as both symbolic and well-deserved.
In his keynote address, the Convener of G17, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, said the group’s endorsement of Governor Mbah was a natural outcome of his outstanding performance and leadership excellence. “Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is not just a leader; he is a phenomenon,” he declared passionately. “His vision has redefined governance, restored public trust, and inspired a new era of confidence and progress in Enugu State. Anywhere Governor Mbah stands, that is where G17 stands. His success is our collective victory.”
Dr. Mbah highlighted the Governor’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and people-centred development, citing landmark accomplishments such as the restoration of 24-hour water supply in Enugu metropolis, the establishment of smart schools reshaping education delivery, the reformation of the justice and transportation sectors, and the emergence of a thriving digital economy attracting new investment to the state.
He praised Governor Mbah’s inclusive leadership approach, which he said has empowered young people, elevated women, and bridged the urban–rural development divide through sustainable growth initiatives. “Continuity under Governor Mbah’s leadership is not just a political necessity; it is a moral obligation to preserve the legacy of excellence he has built,” he affirmed.
The event hall resonated with admiration as speaker after speaker praised Governor Mbah’s leadership style. Traditional rulers, clergy, market leaders, and community representatives described him as “a golden gift to Enugu State, a visionary whose footsteps will echo for generations.” They applauded his humanitarian governance philosophy, noting that his people-oriented policies have touched lives across every corner of the state and rekindled citizens’ hope in purposeful leadership.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters; Barr. Osita Nnajieze, Senior Special Adviser on Legal Matters; and Chief Frank Anioma, Special Adviser on Political Matters. Also present were Amb. Rev. Emmanuel Ositadimma Edeh, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); Hon. Mrs. Peace Gabriel Nnaji, Enugu State PDP Women Leader; and Mrs. Ihuoma Eze, Enugu State Coordinator of the APPEALS Project.
They were joined by former local government chairmen, commissioners, political veterans, and grassroots mobilisers, all pledging unwavering support for Governor Mbah and vowing to mobilise vigorously for his victory in 2027.
More than a political assembly, the G17 gathering evolved into a celebration of progress, leadership, and continuity, with participants describing Governor Mbah’s administration as a “blueprint for excellence and modern governance.” Speakers hailed him as “the torchbearer of modern Enugu and the architect of a future where dreams meet development.”
In a unanimous resolution, G17 reaffirmed its total commitment to mobilising massive grassroots support across all 17 Local Government Areas, defending the Governor’s legacy, and ensuring a landslide victory for his re-election bid. Their declaration, greeted by thunderous applause and a standing ovation, firmly positioned G17 as a formidable political force and a vital ally in Governor Mbah’s vision of building a prosperous, globally competitive Enugu State.
