Uchenna Joseph Okolo, on Wednesday, October 28, 2025, hosted political leaders, community stakeholders, and dignitaries at the official inauguration of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, a socio-political group dedicated to promoting the vision and governance philosophy of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The event, held at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters, was characterized by excitement, unity, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. It opened with the national anthem, an opening prayer, and the traditional breaking of the kola nut by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Okosisi Nwobi, Ugwundu II of Ugwuleshi Autonomous Community, which set a cultural and symbolic tone for the day’s proceedings.

In his welcome address, Hon. Uchenna Okolo expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement for extending the initiative to Awgu. He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration and the people of the area to advancing Governor Mbah’s transformative agenda and ensuring that his policies and programs reach the grassroots. He stated that Governor Mbah has ushered in a new era of visionary leadership, from education to infrastructure, and assured that Awgu would remain a strong voice and partner in driving this transformative agenda.

In his remarks, the National President of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, Hon. Tony Okonkwo, commended the people of Awgu for their unwavering support for Governor Mbah’s administration. He conveyed the Governor’s appreciation and highlighted some of his landmark achievements within just two years in office, including the construction of 260 Green Smart Schools across the state, the simultaneous development of 260 Type-2 Hospitals, extensive road construction projects spanning both urban and rural communities, the revamping of Hotel Presidential in Enugu, and the completion of a world-class international conference centre reflecting Enugu’s growing investment climate. Okonkwo emphasized that the Tomorrow Is Here Movement serves as a bridge between government and the people, deepening citizen engagement and promoting participatory governance across the state.

A major highlight of the event was the appointment of Hon. Ezenta Charles as the Coordinator of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, Awgu Chapter, by the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Vice President-General of the Movement, Rt. Hon. Ezenta Ezeani. While inaugurating the new coordinator, Ezeani urged him to be a true ambassador of the movement by spreading the Governor’s message of good governance across all wards and polling units in the local government. He also engaged participants in an interactive session to gauge their understanding of Governor Mbah’s development priorities, emphasizing that education remains the cornerstone of the administration’s agenda, with 33 percent of the state’s total budget allocated to the sector.

The inauguration attracted prominent political and business figures from across the state, including Hon. Dr. Anthony Nwankwo, Chairman, House Committee on Budget and Finance, Enugu State House of Assembly (representing Awgu South Constituency), Hon. Dr. Ben Nwoye, Enugu APC Chairman (represented by Hon. Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor), Hon. Chief Anayo Onwuegbu, Member representing Awgu/Aninri/Orji River Federal Constituency, who supported the movement with a ₦500,000 donation (represented by Hon. Chukwujekwu Nebo), and High Chief Osita Nwobi, CEO of Fontana Group of Companies, who also donated ₦1,000,000 to support the cause. All the speakers commended the movement’s grassroots mobilization effort and reaffirmed their faith in Governor Mbah’s people-centered governance and inclusive leadership style.

In an interview with UGAMA TV, Hon. Uchenna Okolo described the inauguration of the movement in Awgu as a welcome development that aligns perfectly with Governor Mbah’s participatory governance model. He pledged to replicate the Governor’s values of efficiency, inclusiveness, and transparency at the local government level, ensuring that development initiatives are people-driven and result-oriented. Similarly, the newly appointed coordinator, Hon. Ezenta Charles, promised total dedication to advancing Governor Mbah’s developmental vision across all communities in Awgu, ensuring that every resident benefits from the administration’s ongoing transformation.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Secretary of Awgu Local Government Council, Hon. Nelson Uduji, expressed appreciation to the movement for its efforts to strengthen political participation at the grassroots. On behalf of the local government, he announced a ₦2 million support fund for the movement and local attendees, commending the organizers for their dedication and service to community development.

The inauguration of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement marks a defining moment in Awgu’s political history, symbolizing renewed trust in leadership anchored on transparency, accountability, and development. With Hon. Uchenna Okolo’s leadership and Hon. Ezenta Charles’s coordination, Awgu LGA is poised to become a model for grassroots-driven governance in Enugu State, where citizens are informed, involved, and inspired by the shared vision of a better tomorrow.
