Enugu Police Roll Out Free Veterinary Outreach to Boost Animal Health, Deepen Community Trust

The , Enugu State Command, has commenced a three-day free veterinary outreach as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, underscoring its commitment to public safety, animal health, and community engagement.

The initiative, being carried out by the Command’s Veterinary Services Unit, is scheduled to run from March 31 to April 2, 2026, at the Police Veterinary Clinic located within the No. 3 Police Mobile Force (MOPOL 3) Squadron Base along Agbani Road, Enugu. The exercise holds daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing accessible and essential veterinary care to residents.

According to the Command, the outreach will feature a range of services, including Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV), DHLPP vaccination covering distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza, as well as free diagnosis, treatment of animals, and expert farm consultations aimed at improving livestock management practices.

Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, , lauded the Inspector-General of Police, , for introducing impactful innovations into the National Police Day celebration. He noted that the veterinary outreach reflects the evolving role of the police in supporting not only human security but also public health and agricultural sustainability.

The Commissioner encouraged pet owners, livestock farmers, and residents across the state to take full advantage of the free services to safeguard the health of their animals and prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases. He further reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to strengthening community partnership, enhancing public trust, and promoting people-oriented policing initiatives.
