
The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday intensified activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, led officers and personnel on a symbolic walkathon across major roads in Enugu metropolis.

The initiative was not limited to the state capital, as similar walkathons were simultaneously conducted in Nsukka and Udenu Area Commands, reflecting a coordinated statewide engagement aimed at fostering police-community relations and promoting physical well-being.
Speaking during the exercise, CP Giwa commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for what he described as a thoughtfully structured programme of activities for the 2026 National Police Day. He underscored the importance of regular physical exercise in maintaining optimal health and fitness among officers, noting that such initiatives would henceforth form a core component of the Commandโs welfare and wellness agenda.
Meanwhile, the Command has announced that activities will continue on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, with public sensitization campaigns focusing on election security, electoral offences, and safe driving practices. The campaigns are expected to take place across various Area Commands and Divisions within the state.
The National Police Day celebration is designed to strengthen community engagement, enhance public awareness, and promote professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
