Tension has gripped Ugwogo Nike Community in Enugu following an alleged assassination attempt on the Chairman of Umunonu Umuezeani Community Power of Attorney and President General of the Nike Youth General Assembly, Chief Hon. Comr. Chijioke Udemezue Okoh.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The incident, which reportedly occurred at about 9:22 p.m. in Ugwogo Nike, was allegedly carried out by a group of hoodlums identified as Mr. Odirachukwu Amuelunonwu, Mr. Agbo Somadina, Mr. Agbo Gerrald, Mr. Agbo Nnamemeka, and others.
According to eyewitness accounts, the youth leader was attacked with dangerous weapons in what appeared to be a coordinated attempt on his life. However, he reportedly escaped unharmed after managing to flee the scene during the attack.
Sources disclosed that after failing to execute their alleged mission, the attackers descended on his vehicle, vandalizing and causing extensive damage to it.
The situation reportedly escalated further as the assailants allegedly proceeded to destroy parts of his business premises, Ugwumba Realtor and Properties Management Limited, located at Orie Market, Ugwogo Nike. Witnesses also alleged that the suspects openly threatened to continue pursuing the community leader.
The development has raised serious security concerns within the community, with residents and stakeholders describing the incident as alarming and capable of threatening the peace of the area.
Speaking after the attack, Chief Hon. Comr. Chijioke Udemezue Okoh expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the spirits of the land for sparing his life from what he described as a deadly and calculated assault.
He called on security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently investigate the matter and ensure that all those allegedly involved are apprehended and brought to justice to prevent further escalation of violence in the community.
Meanwhile, community leaders and concerned residents have appealed to the people of Ugwogo to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive of lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, justice, and security in the area.
