Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi has significantly transformed the educational landscape of the constituency through strategic interventions in access, infrastructure, student welfare, and digital skills for the 21st century.
Prior to his emergence, many schools in the constituency grappled with outdated teaching methods and little or no exposure to modern technology. This left students ill-prepared for today’s digital economy. Recognizing the urgency, Prof. Nnamchi swung into action.
Within his first three months in office, he launched the Prof. Paul Nnamchi Tech-Hub and Youth Innovation (PPNTAYI), a science, computer, and technology intervention programme designed to equip students and youths with practical digital skills.
The programme has since become an annual initiative due to its outstanding impact. To date, thousands of students and youths from across Enugu East/Isi-Uzo have been trained and certified in various aspects of computer technology and innovation, positioning them to compete confidently in the modern economy.
Understanding that financial constraints remain a major barrier to higher education, Prof. Nnamchi also instituted a scholarship scheme for brilliant but indigent students. Today, hundreds of beneficiaries are studying in tertiary institutions Ebony and Cross River States. under the scheme. By God’s grace, many of these scholars are expected to graduate before the end of his first tenure and contribute meaningfully to society as professionals.
His interventions are not limited to human capital development. After identifying schools where pupils learned in dilapidated and unconducive environments, Prof. Nnamchi facilitated the construction of modern six-classroom blocks in selected primary and secondary schools in Emene and Ako Nike. These projects have provided safer and more conducive environments for teaching and learning.
In addition, he has consistently supported schools across the constituency with the distribution of exercise books, school bags, writing materials, uniforms, mathematical sets, and other educational supplies. These interventions have eased the financial burden on families while boosting enrolment, attendance, and learning.
Perhaps his most landmark achievement in education is the sponsorship of the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture, Ako Nike, which has been given assent by Mr President.
The university when it eventually takes off will transform not only education but also the socio-economic fortunes of the constituency.Beyond delivering quality tertiary education, the institution is expected to create jobs, stimulate local businesses, attract investment, and permanently place Enugu East/Isi-Uzo on global educational map.
As a Professor of Engineering, an accomplished academic, and a son of the soil who understands the realities of the constituency, Prof. Nnamchi approached representation with both expertise and empathy. Instead of merely lamenting over challenges, he designed practical solutions and pursued them with conviction.
In just three years, he has helped to shift the educational narrative of Enugu East/Isi-Uzo from one of neglect and limited opportunity to one defined by innovation, access, infrastructure, and hope. His sustained commitment reflects a clear vision: to empower future generations and ensure that every child and youth in Enugu East/Isi-Uzo has the opportunity to learn, excel, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
