Breaking: ESUT Announces Academic Vacancies, Sets October 19 Deadline

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has announced vacancies across several academic ranks, inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates ahead of the October 19, 2026, deadline.

The recruitment covers positions ranging from Assistant Lecturer to Professor, with openings across multiple faculties and departments, including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Law, Social Sciences and Humanities, Agricultural and Natural Resources, and Environmental Sciences.

In a recruitment notice signed by the university’s Registrar, Ambrose G. Ugwu, ESUT stated that the application window would remain open for two weeks, closing on October 19, 2026.

Other departments with vacancies include Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering, Intelligence and Security Studies, Psychology and Sociology.

Qualifications and General Requirements

According to the notice, applicants for the positions of Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I and Lecturer II must possess a good first degree with at least a Second-Class Upper Division, alongside a relevant master’s degree and a PhD in their respective disciplines from recognised universities.

Candidates are also required to provide evidence of scholarly publications in reputable indexed journals, registration with relevant professional regulatory bodies where applicable, and proof of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or an exemption certificate.

Other mandatory documents include a birth certificate or sworn declaration of age and local government identification.

Requirements for Senior Academic Positions

Candidates seeking appointment as Professor must have at least 12 years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognised university, including a minimum of two years as a Reader or Associate Professor.

Applicants must also have served as a dean, head of department or director, or participated as members of university committees.

For Senior Lecturer, candidates must possess at least six years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience, including two years as a Lecturer I. Previous service as an acting dean, acting head of department or director, or membership of a university committee, will be an added advantage.

Applicants for Lecturer I must have at least three years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience, including two years as a Lecturer II in a university.

They are also expected to have at least eight scholarly publications in reputable indexed journals, with a minimum of two identifying them as first-named or corresponding authors.

For Lecturer II, a good record of scholarly publications is listed as an added advantage.

Requirements for Assistant Lecturer

Candidates applying for Assistant Lecturer positions must possess a first degree and a master’s degree, with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.50 on a five-point scale.

A good record of scholarly publications and registration with relevant professional bodies, where applicable, will also be an added advantage.

How to Apply

The Registrar directed interested candidates to submit their applications to the Registrar’s Office, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT Ebeano, Enugu, Enugu State.

All applications must be submitted on or before October 19, 2026.

Prospective applicants are advised to ensure that they meet the requirements for their preferred positions and provide the necessary supporting documents before submitting their applications.
