This vision took center stage on Friday as the state marked the 2026 World Food Day, an event organized by the Enugu State Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation. Representing Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, lauded the ministry alongside key development partners for their relentless drive to boost agricultural productivity and safeguard the state’s food supply.

​At the heart of this year’s global theme—“Innovate Today to Nourish Tomorrow”—lies a revolutionary approach championed by the state. Delivering a passionate address on behalf of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition, the Chairman, Mrs. Clara Nwakaego Eze, emphasized that food security goes far beyond filling plates; it is about empowering minds and future-proofing communities. In Enugu State, innovation has been fully embraced as the pathway to this future. Through the establishment of Green Smart Farms in Smart Schools, a new generation is being cultivated to see agriculture not as a burden, but as an opportunity—an opportunity to harness science, technology, and creativity to ensure sustainable nourishment for all.

​These groundbreaking Green Smart Farms are designed to be much more than crop fields. Transforming into real-world classrooms of resilience and laboratories of hope, they are equipping young minds with the practical tools and creative vision to drive tomorrow’s agricultural prosperity. Building on this momentum, the committee has reaffirmed its dedication to harmonizing every technological and agricultural innovation with the overarching mission of comprehensive nutrition and food security.
