…Strengthens Grassroots Participation in Community-Driven Development
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has intensified efforts to strengthen grassroots development through the extension of sensitisation and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercises to six communities in Enugu East Local Government Area under the NG-CARES 2.0 intervention programme.

The exercise, led by the Agency’s General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, covered Umuchigbo Nike, Agu-Abor, Ugbo-Odogwu, Iji Nike (Parklane Extension), Ugwogo Nike and Rehab Emene, where residents were engaged on the importance of identifying and prioritising their most pressing community development needs.

The sensitisation exercise was designed to deepen public understanding of the community-driven development approach, encourage active grassroots participation and provide residents with an opportunity to articulate their development priorities for possible intervention under the programme.
Addressing the communities, Hon. Ani emphasised that meaningful and sustainable development could only be achieved through collective participation, transparency, accountability and a strong sense of community ownership.
He urged residents to actively participate in the PRA process, explaining that their contributions would guide the identification of priority projects and ensure that proposed interventions reflect the actual needs and aspirations of the benefiting communities.

The CSDA General Manager reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to promoting people-centred development initiatives that respond directly to the challenges confronting communities, stressing that grassroots engagement remains critical to the successful implementation and sustainability of development projects.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the development vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration has continued to prioritise inclusive development, improved access to essential services and the strengthening of community-level infrastructure across Enugu State.

Through the CSDA and the NG-CARES 2.0 platform, the state government is reinforcing a participatory development framework that places communities at the centre of identifying needs, determining priorities and taking ownership of interventions intended to improve their living conditions.

Meanwhile, the Honourable Member representing Enugu East Urban Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Osita Okoh, alongside traditional rulers, community chiefs and other stakeholders, expressed appreciation to Governor Mbah for his continued commitment to grassroots development.

They commended the administration’s efforts to extend government interventions to communities and improve the living conditions of residents, expressing optimism that the sensitisation and PRA exercises would translate into tangible development projects addressing the priority needs of the benefiting communities.

The exercise further demonstrates the CSDA’s commitment to ensuring that grassroots development is driven by the people, guided by their priorities and sustained through active community participation.
