The comprehensive outreach program, which commenced on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the premises of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, was designed to address the health challenges faced by the constituents. The program was held in collaboration with the National Commission for Refuges Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons (NCRMIDP).

The outreach program was a huge success, with over 400 constituents receiving medical treatments at Ehamufu. The team leader from the implementation agency, Mrs. Obafemi Funmilayo, described the attendance in Ehamufu as phenomenal, stating that the specialist medical practitioners had hectic moments attending to the huge crowd.

The team of specialist medical practitioners, including doctors, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, and laboratory scientists, worked together to provide quality medical care to the constituents. The team head of the medical practitioners, Dr. Chukwudi Etiki from the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH) Park-lane Enugu, acknowledged that the task for the last day was challenging, but expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

Hon. Professor Nnamchi emphasized the importance of regular medical outreach programs, especially amidst the current economic hardship in the country. He noted that the enthusiasm shown by the constituents implied that there would be a need for regular medical outreach to address the health challenges of the constituents.
The outreach program was held across four venues within the two local governments that make up the federal constituency. It commenced in Enugu East, at the premises of the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. It continued on Wednesday, 20th at the premises of the St Andrew’s Anglican Church Ikem Uno in Isi Uzo Local Government and returned to Nkwo- Akpuoga in Enugu East on Thursday with a special mass officiated by the parish of Dtmary’s Catholic Church Akpuoga, Reverend Father Iloabuchi Ogbu.

Dr. Etiki observed that most of the constituents were ignorant of what they were suffering and suggested that it would be fine to conduct the outreach more often to save lives. This highlights the importance of regular medical outreach programs in raising awareness about health issues and providing access to quality medical care.

With this groundbreaking initiative, Professor Nnamchi has once again demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. As the program comes to a close, it is clear that its impact will be felt for a long time to come.
