Nigerian Governor Suspends two top Govt officials, issues statement

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has taken a decisive step in his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, suspending two top officials from their positions.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, the Commissioner for Health, Moses Ekuma, has been suspended for three months, while the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Francis Ori, has been suspended indefinitely.

The suspensions were announced following a meeting of the State Executive Council in Abakaliki, the state capital, where cases of gross misconduct and dereliction of duties were cited as reasons for the suspensions.

This development comes on the heels of a recent incident where six employees of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Health were arrested for allegedly stealing government property. The suspects were caught on Saturday night at the ministry’s premises while attempting to transport the stolen items for sale.

As reported by REFMEDIAGIST, Governor Nwifuru has ordered the prosecution of the arrested employees, describing their actions as sabotage against the state’s health sector. This move demonstrates the governor’s commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring that those responsible for misconduct are held accountable.

The suspensions and arrests serve as a clear indication that Governor Nwifuru will not tolerate any form of misconduct or corruption in his government. As the governor continues to work towards a better future for Ebonyi State, these actions serve as a reminder of his dedication to the people and the state’s progress.
