UBEC BOSS CALLS ON STAKEHOLDERS IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR TO SUSTAIN THE TEMPO AND GIVE THE CHILDREN THE BEST QUALITY EDUCATION

The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, has stressed the need for all stakeholders in the education industry in the country to do all they can to give the best education to our children for the betterment of society.

The Executive Secretary who was speaking when he called on the Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) Assoc. Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe, in his office as part of his official visit to Enugu State, appealed to them never to give up but to work as a team to sustain the struggle and also persevere in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Hamid noted that the well-being of the people and the future of Nigeria depends largely on how these children are prepared from a basic level to safeguard the system because they will one day come to society as leaders.

He, therefore, used the occasion to commend the State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah, for his government’s commitment to making very positive change for the future of the children, the State, and the Nation at large through the SMART Green School project embarked upon by his administration.

The UBEC Boss noted that Enugu State is taking the lead in the number of SMART Green School Projects already constructed adding that he had visited almost all the States of the federation and has not seen any State that is competing within this new era of experiential learning using the artificial intelligence and Robotics in helping the children to break even.

Dr. Hamid described his visit to Enugu State as an opportunity to see the wonderful work the indefatigable State Government is doing in all the sectors of governance while strengthening the relationship between the Commission and the State and ENSUBEB.

The Executive Secretary, therefore, appealed to the people of Enugu State to continue to support the Governor and sustain the developmental projects embarked upon by the government.

Earlier in his speech, the ENSUBEB Boss, Prof. Okibe, appreciated Dr. Hamid for the visit and his visible commitment to partner with the Board to fast-track her activities in the state in recent times.

According to Assoc. Prof. Okibe, “We appreciate your magnanimity, spirit of friendship, goodwill, and partnership with us; we are grateful to you for the way you have been assisting us”. He specifically mentioned his support to ensure that Enugu State was among the thirteen (13) states in Nigeria selected for the UBEC Early Grade Reading Result Based Financing Programme and speedy processing of the Board’s Action Plans, among others.

Assoc. Prof. Okibe noted with delight that his relationship with the UBEC Boss has further helped him to understand more the dynamics of Basic Education and enveloped the consciousness on the challenges experienced in that sector.

He appealed to his guest to continue to assist and support the state government in her efforts to develop basic education in the state, especially in the areas of capacity building, agriculture, and Smart Schools.

The Executive Chairman spoke on Governor Mbah’s legacy projects in all sectors of the state economy designed to add value to the lives of the people and pledged that the Board would continue to do the needful to support the Governor to better the lots of the people.

On arrival at the ENSUBEB Headquarters Independence Layout Enugu the chairman took the visitor and his entourage around the office complex.

Highlight of the second-day activity of UBEC Boss in his visit to Enugu includes inspection tour of the ongoing SMART School Projects at Government Technical College (GTC), Enugu and Queen’s School, Enugu. During the inspection, Dr. Hamid was conducted round by the ENSUBEB Boss in the company of Member III on the Board, Dr. Ego Aja, and some of the Directors and Management staff.
