Kachallah Bammi Yarma, a notorious bandit kingpin jailed in Niger Republic in 2015, has been released and returned to Katsina State, Nigeria, after nine years. This information was shared on the official X page of security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Bammi Yarma was captured in 2015 during former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s administration. His arrest was a major success against banditry, occurring while he was caught smuggling weapons on nine camels. Authorities also intercepted 1,000 livestock linked to his criminal activities, disrupting a key supply chain for bandits.
After his conviction, Bammi Yarma served time in Niger. However, sources reveal that he has reemerged in northwest Nigeria, where he previously orchestrated violent attacks, mass kidnappings, and cattle rustling.
His return raises concerns due to his influence among bandit networks across Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states. Reports suggest that prominent bandit leaders are paying homage to him, with some presenting multiple firearms, including five to ten rifles each.
Bammi Yarma’s resurgence may intensify violent activities in an already insecure Northwest. He is feared not only for his criminal acts but also for eliminating rival bandit leaders. His return could spark conflicts among different bandit factions or embolden existing groups, resulting in increased attacks on rural communities.
Furthermore, Bammi Yarma’s reputation as a feared warlord extends beyond Nigeria, with even other terrorist factions in Niger and the Sahel region reportedly wary of his influence.
