Enugu State has taken a significant step in its ambition to emerge as one of Africa’s leading digital innovation destinations following the formal takeover of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Digital Industrial Park and the Digital Bridge Institute (Learning Centre) under long-term operational lease agreements.
The landmark development, which took place on Friday, represents another milestone in Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration’s commitment to building a technology-driven economy anchored on digital innovation, knowledge development and sustainable economic growth.

The initiative was achieved through a strategic partnership between the Enugu State Government and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), led by its Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Maida.
Under the new arrangement, the two strategic national digital assets will be transformed into Enugu Talent City — a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) centre designed to serve as a hub for artificial intelligence, digital innovation, talent development, entrepreneurship and technology-driven job creation.

The facility will be powered by the Nigerian Data Exchange (NGDX) Hub, managed by Terragon, alongside the Enugu AI Institute, creating a world-class ecosystem aimed at nurturing digital talents and attracting technology-based investments into the state.
According to the state government, the initiative will provide the infrastructure needed to support emerging technologies, empower young people with globally competitive digital skills, promote entrepreneurship and position Enugu as a preferred destination for global technology investors.

The project, coordinated by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency, forms part of the administration’s broader strategy to transition the state into a knowledge-based economy where innovation and human capital development drive economic transformation.

With the latest milestone, the Mbah administration says Enugu is strengthening its position as an emerging technology hub in Africa and taking deliberate steps towards building a future-ready economy powered by digital excellence.
“The future is digital. The future is Enugu. Tomorrow is Here.”
