
On March 28, 2025, the Nkanu East Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, joined by esteemed colleagues, attended the last Ofala festival for the late HRH Igwe Eddy Nweke in Ugbawka.

The funeral service, held at the Community Primary School Ohuona in Ugbawka, drew numerous sympathizers from near and far. Hon. Edeh delivered a heartfelt condolence message, expressing his sympathy and urging the bereaved family and the entire Uhuona community to seek comfort in God.

“Igwe was a notable figure in Nigeria who lived a long and fulfilled life, contributing meaningfully in ways that will be remembered for years to come,” Hon. Edeh noted. “He has gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord.”


The late Igwe Eddy Nweke was a distinguished member of the federal house of representatives in the 2nd Republic, representing Nkanu federal constituency. He also served as the Igwe of Uhuona Autonomous community, Ugbawka, Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State.


The burial ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across Nigeria, highlighting the significant impact of Igwe Eddy Nweke on the community and the nation at large.



Hon. Edeh was joined by Hon. Uche Okolo of Awgu, Hon. John Ogbodo of Nkanu East, Hon. Caleb Ani of Enugu South, and Hon. Okey Mba, the representative of Nkanu East at the Enugu State House of Assembly.


The event served as a testament to the enduring legacy of Igwe Eddy Nweke and the high esteem in which he was held by the people of Enugu State and beyond.
