In a landmark move aimed at cementing Enugu State’s reputation as an emerging technology and innovation hub, the Enugu State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology has officially opened registration for startups ahead of the highly anticipated Enugu Tech Fest 2026.

The initiative, announced earlier this week, is part of the state government’s broader strategy to foster innovation and empower a new generation of entrepreneurs. Startups across both tech and non-tech sectors—whether based locally or internationally—are invited to register and take advantage of a host of opportunities designed to spur growth and investment. The registration deadline is set for August 15, 2025.

According to the Ministry, successful applicants will benefit from funding support and participation in pitch competitions designed to fast-track startup growth, exclusive exhibition slots at Enugu Tech Fest 2026—the state’s flagship annual event that showcases cutting-edge innovation—and strategic networking opportunities with global investors, offering founders a genuine path to international partnerships and expansion.

Registration is currently hosted on the official portal: www.enugutechfest.com.

Speaking on the initiative, Eliezer Ajah, Managing Director of Genesys Foundation and Team Lead for the Enugu Tech Fest Local Organizing Committee, described the move as a defining moment for young innovators.

“This is more than a call; it’s a signal to young dreamers and creators that Enugu is ready to invest in their vision,” Ajah said. “We are laying the foundation for an inclusive innovation economy.”

With over 60 percent of Nigeria’s population under the age of 30, initiatives like this are seen as critical to tackling unemployment, diversifying the economy, and encouraging the creation of scalable solutions tailored to African markets.

The state’s startup push also aligns with national aspirations to develop thriving innovation clusters outside the traditional technology centers of Lagos and Abuja. By creating infrastructure and offering platforms that encourage investment and mentorship, Enugu is positioning itself as a magnet for digital talent and entrepreneurship in the Southeast.

For startups, the advantages are immediate and far-reaching—ranging from funding and visibility to long-term mentorship and the chance to operate on a continental stage. For Enugu State, the benefits include job creation, youth empowerment, increased GDP, and a strengthened position as a forward-looking innovation hub.

Enugu Tech Fest 2026, where registered startups will be given a platform to showcase their progress, is expected to attract top stakeholders from across Africa’s tech ecosystem, thereby reinforcing Enugu’s upward trajectory in digital development.

Entrepreneurs and innovators are encouraged to register before August 15 and become part of what promises to be a transformative chapter in the state’s innovation journey.
