“August reminds us that each month is an opportunity to build, to unite, and to uplift,” Hon. Okolo stated in his monthly goodwill message. “We have made remarkable progress, and we remain fully focused on ongoing and upcoming projects that will benefit every ward in Awgu.”

The Chairman highlighted transformative initiatives that are currently shaping the development landscape of the local government. Among them is the ongoing construction of access roads leading to the Awgu Green Smart Schools and Farm Estates, a project aimed at enhancing mobility and improving economic access. He also spoke about the “Awgu Water for All” initiative, which features the installation of solar-powered boreholes in underserved communities, providing residents with reliable access to clean water.

In addition, Hon. Okolo noted the implementation of the Solar Street Light Project, which is designed to improve night-time safety and support rural electrification through sustainable energy sources. He also pointed to a historic push to end open defecation by 2025. So far, the administration has distributed over 2,000 Sato pan toilets and provided capacity-building training for local artisans on smart toilet technologies.

Also central to the Chairman’s message was the Awgu Smart Farm Project, an initiative aimed at modernizing agriculture and promoting food security, especially among the youth and women in the community.

Hon. Okolo emphasized the importance of communal vigilance and mutual support, urging residents to uphold the values of peace and security. “Security and peace must be sustained by collective responsibility,” he said, encouraging citizens to continue being their brother’s keeper.

The Chairman also used the occasion to express appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his visionary leadership and numerous development initiatives that are positioning Enugu as a preferred destination for investment and innovation.

“Governor Mbah’s bold strides in education, agriculture, and digital innovation are setting a new standard. We are grateful to be part of this vision,” Hon. Okolo remarked.

The August message, conveyed by Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity to the Executive Chairman, concludes with a firm reassurance of Hon. Okolo’s continued commitment to delivering impactful governance and community-oriented service across Awgu LGA.
