UGWUEME COMMUNITY CELEBRATES ACADEMIC MILESTONE AS PROF. OLUAH DELIVERS 224TH INAUGURAL LECTURE AT UNN

The Ugwueme community proudly recorded a major academic milestone as one of its illustrious sons, Professor Ndubuisi Stanley Oluah, delivered the 224th Inaugural Lecture of the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Professor Oluah, a renowned scholar and the current Professor of Fisheries and Aquatic Toxicology at UNN, presented an insightful lecture titled:
“Aquatic Ecotoxicity: The Challenge to Harnessing Aqua Food for Sustainable Food Security and Development.”

The landmark event took place on Thursday, 31st July 2025, at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium and Unity Hall, commencing at 1:00 p.m. It was officiated by Professor Chikelue Ofuebe, Chairman of the UNN Senate Ceremonials Committee.

The lecture attracted a distinguished audience, including a college of professors, a legion of doctors, erudite scholars, members of the UNN Senior Staff Club, and representatives of the Awgu Staff Association (Academic and Non-academic). The event was also well attended by Ugwueme youths, elders, stakeholders, and numerous students.

Among the notable dignitaries in attendance was the Honourable Member representing Awgu South State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Nwankwo (JP), who graced the event with his entourage.

In his lecture, Prof. Oluah addressed the critical challenges of aquatic ecotoxicity and its implications for sustainable aquaculture. He emphasized the vital role of healthy aquatic ecosystems in ensuring food security and advancing national development.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of an award to the celebrant, issuance of a commemorative certificate, and a group photograph session to mark the occasion.

The Ugwueme community joins the academic world in celebrating Professor Oluah’s exceptional accomplishment — a moment of pride and a beacon of inspiration for current and future generations of scholars from the town.
