The Council of Enugu State Presidents-General (PGs), Enugu West Senatorial District Chapter, has thrown its full weight behind Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as the “only political party they know,” amid speculations surrounding the governor’s potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the group’s Coordinator and Spokesperson, Hon. Chief Ejike Tasie Iloh (Ọzọ Iheanaeboagu la Achi), the PGs emphasized that their allegiance to Governor Mbah transcends political party affiliations, anchoring instead on his leadership qualities, grassroots impact, and track record of performance.
The statement was jointly endorsed by the five LGA Coordinators representing the senatorial district: Chief Collins Okelue (Awgu), Chief Ani Pius (Aninri), Chief Chiaha Chinedu (Ezeagu), Ọzọ Ejike Ilo-Tasie (Oji River), and Chief Albe Obinwanne (Udi).
“Our support for Governor Mbah is not defined by party labels. It is about his person, his performance, and the transformative leadership he represents,” the statement read.
They extolled Mbah for restoring dignity to traditional institutions, bringing development to rural communities, and redefining governance in ways his predecessors did not. The PGs insisted that the people of Enugu West care more about results than about political platforms.
“Governor Mbah is not just a governor — he is our own. Wherever he goes, we go with him. He has given hope to the grassroots and respect to traditional leadership. He remains the face of good governance in Enugu West.”
The group called on all sons and daughters of the Enugu West Senatorial District to continue supporting Governor Mbah in both words and action, stressing that such commitment would lay a solid foundation for the eventual transfer of power to the zone in 2031, after Mbah’s expected two-term tenure.
“We are confident that with continued support, Governor Mbah’s administration will remain one of the most impactful in Enugu’s history. We look forward to a future where, after his tenure, power returns to Enugu West in recognition of our unwavering loyalty and sacrifice.”
