The grassroots environmental initiative, Debe Enugu Ocha(Keep Enugu Clean), has continued to make remarkable strides in its mission to restore cleanliness and dignity to the city of Enugu.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! From the bustling IMT–Shoprite Bus Stop (Keke and Mini-Bus Park) to Owerri Road Junction (by Bureau de Change), from the busy lanes of Nkpokiti Junction to the heart of Onu-Asata Roundabout and Obiagu, and from the tech-driven hub of Phone Village (by Fire Service) to the ever-active Ogui Junction and New Haven Market, the group’s clean-up exercises have left visible transformations in some of the city’s busiest and most neglected spots.
According to the organisers, each location tells a unique story,of volunteers showing up with commitment, of residents inspired to take part, and of a city gradually reclaiming its reputation for cleanliness.
“These clean-up activities are not just about sweeping and removing waste,” a spokesperson for the group explained. “They are about reawakening the spirit of responsibility and reinforcing the truth that environmental sanitation is not the sole duty of government, it is a shared calling.”
The group’s efforts have been hailed for going beyond mere waste disposal, leaving behind not only cleaner streets but also a renewed sense of hope in the communities visited.
Debe Enugu Ocha is calling on more residents, businesses, and community leaders to join hands in sustaining the initiative and ensuring that Enugu becomes a model city for cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
