Hon. Okolo, speaking at the grand commissioning of the facility on Thursday, said the hotel’s revival was not only a restoration of a historic landmark but also a sign of renewed hope and prosperity for the state.

Describing Governor Mbah as a “workaholic leader,” he told UgamaTV that the reopening of the Presidential Hotel reflects the governor’s broader commitment to infrastructural renewal, economic growth, and social transformation.

“Today, politicians, business leaders, women, and youths are filled with joy because this is truly a monumental achievement for Enugu State and its people,” Okolo said. “This landmark hotel, once forgotten, has now become a shining symbol of restoration, growth, and renewed hope under Governor Mbah’s administration.”

The Awgu council chairman pointed to what he called the governor’s “everyday commissioning of life-changing projects,” citing the recent launch of modern transport hubs across the state. He also expressed optimism about the planned commissioning of 260 smart schools, one in every ward, which he said would give the next generation access to world-class education.

Okolo further highlighted the governor’s ambitious economic agenda to raise Enugu’s GDP from $3.4 billion to $30 billion. He said the target was attainable through Mbah’s strategic reforms and innovative policies.
He also offered prayers for Governor Mbah’s health, wisdom, and long life, while extending goodwill to members of the executive team, fellow local government chairmen, and stakeholders contributing to the administration’s vision.
According to him, the reopening of the Presidential Hotel goes beyond infrastructure.
“This is more than just a hotel reopening,” he said. “It is a prophetic sign that Enugu State is rising, and with Governor Mbah’s leadership, we are marching confidently toward a future of prosperity, dignity, and global relevance.”
The Presidential Hotel, once a premier destination in the Southeast, had been left in a state of decay for nearly two decades before its rehabilitation and recommissioning under the Mbah administration.
