Nigerian Governor Declares Public Holiday

The Jigawa State Government has declared Wednesday, August 27, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 26, and signed by the Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, the government congratulated the people of Jigawa on the milestone anniversary and urged them to reflect on the progress made since the state was created.

Dagaceri encouraged citizens to use the occasion not only to celebrate but also to offer prayers for the continued peace, development, and prosperity of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.

“It is hoped that all public servants and the entire people of the state will utilise the one-day break in thanking the Almighty Allah for His blessings and for the peaceful coexistence being enjoyed,” the statement read in part.

Jigawa State was created on August 27, 1991, by the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, following its separation from the old Kano State.
