Schools visited by the three monitoring teams included Enugu Smart Green School, GTC Campus 1; New Haven Primary Schools 1–4; Smart Green School, Uzam Amechi Idodo; Eziama Amechi Idodo Community Primary School; and Community Primary School, Ezza Akpugo.

At Enugu Smart Green School, GTC Campus 1, the team led by the Director of Quality Assurance, Mrs. Lilian Eze, observed the morning assembly and monitored pupils and teachers as they moved into their classes, with roll calls duly taken before lessons commenced. The team expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of pupils who arrived with their parents for registration, as well as the presence of stakeholders and personalities who visited the school to assess the facilities and also enroll their children.

Accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Innovation and Director of Experimental Learning, Enugu Smart Green School, Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, the ENSUBEB officials toured the classrooms and explained the features of the school’s modern equipment, including smart boards, furniture, and other teaching aids. They also inspected the school’s laboratory, nursery section, sick bay, and administrative office.

Similarly, Team A, led by Mrs. Ego Eze, visited New Haven Primary Schools 1–4, where, by 8:30 a.m., most teachers and a significant number of pupils were already in their classrooms after completing the morning assembly. At the Smart Green School, New Haven, some parents were present, making inquiries about the school’s operations and enrollment procedures.

At Uzam Amechi Smart Green School, the team observed that infrastructure and teaching facilities were fully in place, with classrooms and furniture ready for academic activities. However, at the nearby Community Primary Schools 1 and 2, the team noted low pupil turnout and teacher lateness, with some teachers absent entirely.

The situation was markedly different at Eziama Amechi Primary School, where both teachers and the head teacher were on ground, except for Mrs. Cecilia Ezeamalu, who was said to be on official duty at the Ministry of Education. At Community Primary School, Ezza Akpugo (Enugu East LGEA), the Head Teacher, Mr. Innocent Ugwu, expressed concerns over the distance to the nearest Smart Green Schools located at Oruku and Amechi Idodo, stressing the difficulty pupils might face in accessing them.

Addressing teachers, Mrs. Eze commended the head teachers of New Haven Primary Schools 1–4 and Ezza Akpugo Community Primary School for effectively managing both pupil registration and lesson planning. She assured the head teacher at Ezza Akpugo that the state government was aware of the challenges raised and would soon address them.

In contrast, Mrs. Eze, alongside Mrs. Caroline Okoro and Mrs. Kate, expressed dissatisfaction with the attitude of some teachers at Uzam Amechi Idodo, warning that laxity and truancy would no longer be tolerated. She emphasized that with the gradual migration to Smart Green Schools, teachers must improve their commitment, punctuality, and professional conduct or face disciplinary consequences.

The officials reaffirmed that the monitoring exercise would be regular, urging teachers across the state to demonstrate competence, diligence, and dedication to their duties in line with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for basic education in Enugu State.
