Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu Advocates Empowerment and Equal Opportunities as World Marks International Day of the Girl Child

The Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, has joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, with a call for sustained investment in the education, empowerment, and protection of the girl child.

This year’s celebration, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” focuses on recognizing the resilience, leadership, and transformative potential of girls, even in the face of global challenges.

In his message, Hon. Onwuegbu described the day as a timely reminder of the “power, potential, and promise inherent in every girl child,” stressing that girls are not only the hope of tomorrow but also the builders of today’s world, future mothers, leaders, innovators, and nation-builders.

“When we invest in their education, health, safety, and empowerment, we strengthen families, uplift communities, and advance the vision of a greater Nigeria,” he stated.

The federal lawmaker further urged society to remain committed to dismantling barriers that limit the girl child, confronting harmful stereotypes, and ensuring equal opportunities that allow girls to dream, learn, and lead without restraint.

Hon. Onwuegbu extended his goodwill to girls across his constituency, assuring them of his continuous advocacy for gender equity and youth empowerment.

“To every girl child in Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River — you are seen, you are valued, and your future is bright,” he affirmed.

He concluded by congratulating all girls on this year’s observance and reaffirmed his dedication to promoting initiatives that secure their growth, dignity, and future.
