The Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the timely delivery of quality, durable and people-oriented infrastructure across the state.

The Commissioner inspected the stadium alongside the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr., expressing satisfaction with the pace of construction and the level of transformation taking place at the iconic sports facility.
He described the progress as highly encouraging, noting that the comprehensive upgrade of the stadium reflects Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s deliberate commitment to revitalising critical public infrastructure, advancing sports development and positioning Enugu as a leading destination for sports, tourism, investment and economic growth.
Okoh said the rehabilitation of the stadium goes beyond the development of a sporting facility, stressing that it forms part of the administration’s broader effort to transform the state’s infrastructure and unlock opportunities for tourism, investment and economic development.
The Commissioner disclosed that ongoing construction activities around the Stadium Main Bowl have necessitated the temporary closure of one carriageway of Ogui Road bordering the stadium. He explained that the affected carriageway may also experience intermittent closures as construction progresses.
He therefore appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with traffic management personnel, obey diversion signs and make use of alternative routes where necessary.
Okoh also appreciated residents and road users for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the construction period, assuring them that the temporary traffic arrangements were necessary to facilitate the smooth execution of the project.
Following the stadium inspection, the Commissioner proceeded to the Constitution Road project, where he inspected the ongoing works and noted that the stone base course had been completed.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded and assured residents that the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure would continue to closely monitor the project to ensure timely completion, quality execution and adherence to approved standards.
Okoh reiterated that the ongoing projects form part of Governor Mbah’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at transforming Enugu, improving the quality of life of residents and creating an enabling environment for sustainable economic growth and development.
He assured residents that the Ministry would continue to strengthen supervision of projects across the state while ensuring that contractors deliver infrastructure that meets the required standards of quality, durability and value.
“The transformation we are witnessing across Enugu is a reflection of a government that is building deliberately for the future—one project at a time. Tomorrow is here,” the Commissioner stated.
