Tony Cee Gifts Agbogugu Life-Changing Projects as Awgu Council Chairman Commissions Landmark Developments

…Hails philanthropic gesture, applauds Governor Mbah’s inclusive governance and infrastructure drive

Agbogugu in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State witnessed significant strides in community development on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as the Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Uchenna Okolo, commissioned a series of infrastructural projects donated by philanthropist and community leader, Chief Tony Chukwuonu, widely known as Tony Cee, from Akwu village, Eziama-Agbogugu.

The commissioned projects include a water borehole, solar-powered streetlights, renovation of the Community Primary School, Agbogugu, garden chairs installed at village squares, and a free medical outreach programme aimed at boosting public health within the community.

Chief Chukwuonu’s elder brother, Chief Godwin Chukwuonu (Ego Ji Olu), who represented him at the ceremony, reaffirmed the family’s long-standing commitment to advancing development and improving livelihoods across Agbogugu and beyond.

Speaking during the event, Mayor Uchenna Okolo commended the donor for his exemplary civic leadership, describing the gesture as a remarkable model of citizen participation in grassroots transformation.

“What we are witnessing here today is a testament to what one man’s vision and love for his community can achieve. Chief Tony Cee has shown true leadership and patriotism. I urge other well-meaning sons and daughters of Awgu to emulate this noble example,” Okolo stated.

He also praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for championing inclusive governance and delivering infrastructure across Enugu State. According to him, the governor’s equitable development agenda has inspired many philanthropists and community stakeholders to support government-led progress.

“Governor Mbah’s transformative leadership has created a sense of belonging and renewed confidence among our people. Many philanthropists are now motivated to contribute to their communities because they see genuine progress happening in the state. At the grassroots, we are complementing his efforts through ongoing projects and initiatives to ensure that every community in Awgu is represented and touched by development,” the Council Chairman added.

The ceremony attracted notable personalities including the former Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Chief Hon. Sunday Nnamani; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Deacon Ndubuisi F. Nwaudeigwe; the Administrator of Awgu Central Development Area, Hon. Maximus Oha; council appointees; and respected community leaders.

Traditional institutions were strongly represented as HRH Igwe D. N. Chukwu of Eziama-Agbogugu and HRH Igwe M. O. Onuoha of Aka-Anwu Agbogugu graced the event. They were joined by the President-General of the Federation of Agbogugu Autonomous Communities (FAAC), Hon. Elozie Nwabuishi, other President-Generals, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The atmosphere was marked by joy and gratitude as residents expressed optimism that the newly delivered facilities would expand access to potable water, strengthen community safety, improve the learning environment, and elevate public health outcomes within Agbogugu.
