Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The 2025 Local Government elections of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Enugu State Chapter, held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the PPSMB Parliament Hall, Enugu, recorded remarkable success marked by peace, unity, and transparency.

The event drew women delegates and leaders from the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, who turned out in large numbers to elect their representatives in what has been widely described as one of the most credible and well-coordinated elections in the history of the organization.

Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, wife of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, was ably represented by Barr. Chidi Egeonu. In her address, she commended the women for their unity, peaceful participation, and dedication to progress.

She also conveyed the First Lady’s goodwill message and reaffirmed her unwavering support for women’s empowerment, leadership development, and community transformation across Enugu State. Mrs. Mbah further charged the women to be agents of positive change in their respective communities and LGAs.

The atmosphere at the PPSMB Parliament Hall was lively and colorful, with displays of NCWS uniforms, songs of solidarity, and chants of sisterhood echoing from various local government contingents.


LGA Chairpersons of the NCWS played a pivotal role in the event’s success, providing transportation and entertainment for delegates, aspirants, and observers from their respective councils. Many also went the extra mile by purchasing NCWS uniforms and nomination forms for their members, a gesture that underscored their commitment to women’s unity and development.


The National 2nd Vice President of NCWS, Dame Lizzy Ani, in her goodwill message, highlighted the objectives of the Council, emphasizing that NCWS remains the voice of the voiceless. She pledged to represent Enugu State effectively at the national level and to ensure that the state continues to be a model of excellence within the Council.

In her remarks, the State President of NCWS, Lady (Dr.) Anthonia Chinenyenwa Ogbu, expressed profound appreciation to Her Excellency, Mrs. Mbah, for her consistent motherly support, and to all LGA Chairpersons for their dedication and selfless contributions. She described the election as “a testimony that when women unite with purpose, peace, and integrity, progress is inevitable.”

Also speaking, the State Secretary, Dr. Nkiru Onuorah, commended the delegates for their discipline and orderly conduct. She noted that the transparent and credible electoral process has strengthened the Council’s foundation for greater impact and effectiveness in the years ahead.



The event concluded with songs of victory, renewed enthusiasm, and a firm commitment by members to continue championing the cause of women and community development across Enugu State.
