The 2025 edition of the event, themed “Building Africa’s Web3 Future from the Coal City,” brought together key players from across the continent to discuss the future of blockchain technology, decentralized innovation, and digital transformation in Africa.

The event, which has become a continental reference point for blockchain collaboration, attracted participants from across Africa’s growing tech ecosystem, including developers, startups, investors, and policy leaders.
One of the major partners and sponsors of this year’s event is the Enugu SME Center / Office of Digital Economy (Enugu SME & Startup Agency), led by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State. The Center’s involvement reflects the state government’s continued commitment to digital transformation, youth empowerment, and technological advancement.
Speaking on the state’s partnership with ETH Enugu, officials of the Enugu SME Center emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision of building a knowledge-driven economy and positioning Enugu as a leading innovation hub in Nigeria.
“Our collaboration with ETH Enugu 2025 reinforces Enugu’s commitment to supporting young innovators, expanding blockchain literacy, and building the infrastructure for a thriving digital economy,” a statement from the agency noted.
The agency has also launched several initiatives aimed at developing digital talent and supporting startups, including Enugu Talent City, Digital Skills Enhancement Zones, and Human Capital Development Programs. These programs provide training, mentorship, and access to funding for young people across the state, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
The success of ETH Enugu 2025 further cements the city’s reputation as a rising center for technology and innovation in West Africa. With Enugu’s strategic investments in digital infrastructure and human capital, stakeholders say the state is well on its way to transforming from the Coal City of the past into a Crypto City of the future.
