
In a show of solidarity, respect, and shared humanity, the Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, on Friday, 31st October 2025, joined family members, friends, and political associates to bid a final farewell to Late Mrs. Victoria Okwudirieke Egbe, mother-in-law to his brother, Hon. David Onwuegbu.

The funeral ceremony, which took place at the Obinagu Umudim Village, Akpugoeze, in Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State, began with a solemn funeral service at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church. The atmosphere was filled with both grief and celebration of a life well-lived, as hymns, prayers, and tributes echoed through the church auditorium.




The late Mrs. Egbe, according to family sources, was a devout Christian, community matriarch, and a woman of uncommon virtue, whose kindness, humility, and motherly wisdom left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path.




Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu, who attended the event with his entourage of aides, traditional rulers, and members of the Onwuegbu family, led a moving tribute and presentation, performed in line with the rich cultural traditions of the people of Akpugoeze.

In his remarks, Hon. Onwuegbu extolled the virtues of the deceased, describing her as “a beacon of love and discipline whose life mirrored grace, godliness, and the true spirit of motherhood.” He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the enduring legacy of their late matriarch, emphasizing that “a life spent in love and service never truly ends.”


The event, which was graced by a constellation of dignitaries, also became a mini-political and social convergence, attracting leaders from across Enugu State and beyond. Among the personalities in attendance were the Chairman of Oji-River Local Government Area, Hon. Greg Chijioke Anyaegbudike; Hon. Boniface Uchendu, former Chairman of Oji-River and Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Onwuegbu; Hon. Chief Obi Carl Kama, former Commissioner for Science and Technology and Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Onwuegbu; and several other political appointees, associates, and media aides.





The gathering turned into a carnival of unity and shared heritage, as traditional dances, condolence speeches, and expressions of goodwill blended to honour the life and memory of Mrs. Egbe. The vibrant yet reflective atmosphere spoke to the deep respect the community and political circle held for the deceased and her family.


As the golden rays of the evening sun touched down on Akpugoeze, the Onwuegbu family and their political associates stood together to lay to rest a woman whose influence and nurturing spirit transcended generations.



The burial ceremony of Late Mrs. Victoria Okwudirieke Egbe will remain etched in memory as not only a moment of mourning but also a celebration of legacy, love, and faith, the virtues she lived and died upholding.
